As usual we get another dose of Muslims trying to force non-Muslims to accommodate Islam. This time a Muslim named Ricardo Collins is suing the Connecticut state prison because he has been denied halal meat. As of now a prison spokesman has stated that they do not have to serve halal meat. Hopefully they will stick to their guns and not cave in like they did in Wyoming.

Conn. inmate sues to get halal meat
A Connecticut prison inmate has sued the state, claiming that his religious freedom as a Muslim has been violated by the lack of halal meat.
Ricardo Collins filed the lawsuit in U.S. District Court on Dec. 23, The Hartford Courant reported.
"I am a American Muslim and I am being denied the halal meat for the two Islamic feast days," Collins said in his complaint. "The halal meat for the two feasts have great 'spiritual meaning' to the Muslim community all over the world."
The named defendants include Corrections Commissioner Theresa Lantz and other officials, including chaplains at the Corrigan-Radgowski correctional facility in Uncasville.
Collins was sentenced to 70 years after he was convicted of killing a man in Bridgeport in 2002. He recently won an appeal granting him a new trial.
Brian Garnett, a spokesman for the prison system, said that it meets the requirements set down by a court decision that ruled that New Jersey prisons were not required to serve halal meat, which has been slaughtered according to religious rules.

First I am not an Islamic apologist nor do I agree with Islam at all. You can check me out at http://lrightsideofleftcoast.blogspot.com/2009/01/what-can-results-of-negotiating-with.html. That will give you a good idea where I stand. However if the prison accommodates special diets for others be it for health or beliefs such as vegetarians or requiring Kosher food for Jews, then I see no reason to single out Muslims.

I know that you are no Islamic apologist, but I respectfully disagree with you. Muslims should be singled out as the followers of other religions are not on a worldwide movement trying impose their religions on the rest of the world. Also it is the Muslims who are constantly using our freedoms against us, by filing lawsuit after lawsuit, always trying to push non-Muslims to accommodate them. The same thing is happening in the UK and documents were found that some of the lawsuit proceedings were begin used to fund terrorism. Muslims will push as far as we let them and I am against them getting any concessions at all. Look at it this way, Muslims have been here for a long time and now we are just seeing this push more and more as they know how to attack us politically to try and break down America to cater to Islam. How come these demands were not necessary 5 or 10 years ago?

The U.S. government is not responsible for his religion...having read the koran, I cannot see how this hateful ideology can be construed as a religion.
It would have made Hitler proud. In fact, he conspired very successfully with islamists and they revere him.

That is a good point. He said that he only wanted the food for 2 days. I feel the same way when it comes to cab drivers who want foot washing basins installed in airports. Let them keep a gallon of water in their car with a bucket and wash their feet in the parking lot. In other words keep your religion to yourselves.
Too bad they're no in Sheriff Joe's jail in Arizona. They could enjoy a diet of bologna and water or starve...their choice....then work all day in the sun on one of the chain gangs.
By the way, those foot baths make a good place to spit your tobacco plug when you're done chawin'.
Sheriff Joe needs to be appointed to the head of HLS.

Once more there is a confusion made between islam and muslims, the argument is being stated as if christianty should be condemned for the behavior of christians. If USA is about equal rights the prisoner should be treated on an equal base like any other prisoner who had committed a similar crime.
