NZ:Muslim Owned Businesses Stop Serving Israelis

An Israeli family in New Zealand stopped into a local cafe to get lunch for their children, before placing their order the family was speaking in Hebrew. Hearing this the owner who is a Turkish Muslim asked them where they were from. When the family responded that they were from Israel the family was told to get out of the establishment, as he would will not serve Israelis because of the war with Hamas. A neighbouring Turkish kebab shop has also implemented the same policy.

Cafe owner 'breached 'human rights' kicking out Israelis

An Invercargill cafe owner's refusal to serve Israelis on the basis of their nationality is a clear human rights breach, Race Relations Commissioner Joris de Bres says.

Sisters Natalie Bennie and Tamara Shefa were upset after being booted out of the Mevlana Cafe in Esk St yesterday by owner Mustafa Tekinkaya.

They chose to eat at Mevlana Cafe because it had a play area for Mrs Bennie's two children, but they were told to leave before they had ordered any food, Mrs Bennie said.

.""He heard us speaking Hebrew and he asked us where we were from. I said Israel and he said 'get out, I am not serving you'. It was shocking."

Mr Tekinkaya, who is Muslim and from Turkey, said he was making his own protest against Israel because it was killing innocent babies and women in the Gaza Strip.
"I have decided as a protest not to serve Israelis until the war stops."

He said he had nothing against Israeli people but if any more came into his shop they would also be told to leave, and he was not concerned if he lost business."

Mr de Bres said the Human Rights Act prohibited discrimination in the provision of goods and services on the grounds of ethnic or national origin, or of political opinion.

"Whatever the rights and wrongs of the situation in Palestine, it is simply against the law for providers of goods and services in New Zealand to discriminate in this way," he said.

"Mr Tekinkaya's stance was supported by neighbouring Turkish Kebabs shop owner Ali Uzun, who said he was also refusing to serve Israelis.."

Mrs Bennie said she did not disagree that Israel was committing crimes against children.

"I just don't think I should be declined service because I am from Israel."
She had rung the Human Rights Commission and was told the cafe owner's actions were against the law because he was discriminating on the basis of ethnicity.

"I wouldn't mind having a chat to him. Someone has to put him in his place," Mrs Bennie said.

Ms Shefa is visiting Mrs Bennie at her Makarewa home, on the outskirts of Invercargill, where she lives with her New Zealand husband and two children.
Both women said they had travelled widely, and to places much more hostile than New Zealand, but had never been treated in such a way.

Invercargill Mayor Tim Shadbolt was shocked when told of the incident.
"Oh my god, the Gaza Strip has come to Invercargill. Hell's bells."
He said he was bewildered.

"Generally speaking I am against all wars and I suppose people have got a right to protest. I couldn't really deny that. It would have been upsetting for the women and I feel sympathy for them."

So do something about it you f*cking cowards!

Boycott them. Organize a boycott.

This is not really about Gaza. There is a larger principal in play.

So, what is the Human Rights Commission going to do about it?

I see that we have a friendly Muslim here. Thank you for continually proving my point.

While both the Muslim eatery owners are wrong, it's far better that they were straight up about it instead of, for example, spitting in the family's food.

Smart Kiwis will boycott the Muslim morons.

They will also revoke laws that force businesses to serve people they don't want to. Bigotry is wrong, but if people choose to be bigots, they should be: They'll go out of business faster.

If I were a NZ Jew, I'd love to stand in front of their businesses, pointedly waving my cash and eating food from some non-bigot's shop.

Time to boycott New Zealand, its product and people. The Turks are Muslims therefore naturally anti Semitics but what reason do New Zealanders have? The world has lost its moral compass!

Roger a Jew should open up a cafe right across the street from them.

Jacko welcome to the site.

Now this Jew family should file a suit against these business owners, as theseMuslims are looting our courts and airlines. Throw all of them in Cuba.

I learned all I needed to know about fIslam on 9/11.

You may note in many muslim stores, as fislam stole so much from Judaism and Christianity, they have "charity" boxes on their counters or near their cash registers. I have been informed that most of these "charities" support jihad or families who have "lost" a member trying to kill Americans or Israelis.

Since 9/11 we should be buying as little as possible from muslim business owners.

No to buying their newspapers, their coffee, and in major cities in the U.S. you can call Latin owned car-service instead of taxis driven by people who pray 5 times a day for your death.

Muck Fislam.

Well, in Seattle the taxis seem to mostly be driven by Sikh men. They wear turbans. They are not Muslim.

From Wikipedia:
"Generally Sikhism has had amicable relations with other religions. However, during the Islamic conquest of India (1556–1707), prominent Sikh Gurus were martyred by the ruling Mughals for opposing the Mughal's persecution of non-Islamic religious communities. Subsequently, Sikhism militarized to oppose Islamic hegemony."

In California, we had some harassment of Sikhs after 9/11 because they were mistaken for Muslims.

In Minneapolis and NY there are plenty of Muslim cabbies.

I believe in NY they were mistaken for Muslims also. Not that anyone should be violently attacking Muslims either.

This is the pot calling the kettle black!

I can't imagine an Israeli wanting to eat in a Muslim owned cafe in the first place.

Secondly, the attitude and arrogance of Muslims against Israelis epitomizes their level of hypocrisy. What ethnic groups are conducting cowardly terrorist activities world wide and criminally exploiting their offspring as indoctrinated dupes to place explosives on them and sacrifice them by blowing up buildings and killing innocent people? You guessed it!

“The true hypocrite is the one who ceases to perceive his deception; the one who lies with sincerity.”

The moral of this story is Kosher and Halal don't mix!

We just cannot fix stupid.

I hope this sort of thing spreads. A global boycott of Israeli goods, services and tourists (ban them) would be an effective way forward against their violent apartheid policies and criminal activities. Israel has shown it doesn't listen to words, time to hit them with actions.

the issue is prejudice, they were not allowed into a place of business due to them being isrealites.the true wrong is the business was in the united states, given a refuge in businees .(i dont know exactly how i should have commented on the last line)the business is foreign owned, how dare them bring war here especially related to food.peace be with you

The word Islam should be banned for one year. Words cause arguements and serious problems. People don't understand this.
People don't run around saying I am jewish or Israel loudly in your face all the time. People do things and they shouldn't be stopped. People are mixing their decision processes with international politics. They do not understand they are responsible for war in Gaza not Israel. It's a war of words and feelings that doesn't have to happen if people show respect. This global thing and internet is alot of nonsense. People can't stand up against Israel because of where they are standing. People need to respect the ground they walk on and stop making demands on people. And people need to stop 'helping the people'. What for he can help himself if he wants. israel is as much a victim as Gaza. People need to start taking responsibility for what they say. We are seeing people look at everybody and this is not healthy. There are different people in this world and it's not everyone's business to know other people's business. If people get thrown out of a restaurant for being Israeli, they should report it to the authorities and not think twice about it. People are making this happen. People need to think about something else for a while until order is restored. This is not healthy.

This is hilarious! Nothing personal, what a clever way of protesting. Love the idea of not serving 'Jews'. I mean, it wasn't violent, just clever. I wish more people would do things like these. Anti consumerism would be another brilliant idea. All our money in the west goes to jewish owned businesses anyway, that in return is used to buy weapons to kill innocent people. Sure the act would lead to a recession and what not, but many people are self employed and or have have proffessional jobs (doctors and lawyers) and are merely impacted by a recession. Brilliant movement. Let's all stop consuming goods and services and save some money in our banks shall we?
