First Offical Sharia Court Opens in the UK

The U.K. has allowed its first official Sharia Court to open, paving the way for Sharia to take hold and eventually dominate the U.K. The opening of this court will only encourage the 40% of the Muslims there who admit that they want Sharia law to press harder. The U.K. also has at least ten other Sharia courts, but they are not consider "official". What the U.K. politicians fail to realize is that a country cannot operate with two different, basically opposite sets of laws. Sooner or later there is going to be a conflict between a Muslim and a non-Muslim. Which law will be used then? Muslims will say that Sharia (Gods law according to them) has to be used. Those that want Sharia that can be deported, should be deported. This situation is just a disaster waiting to happen.

Sharia law at Muslim college in Nuneaton

The head of a Muslim college in Warwickshire which houses the UK's first official sharia law court has spoke of the advantages of using the ancient system.

Faisal Aqtab Siddiqi said despite misconceptions, the system would work with British law to solve disputes and could "enrich" the current legal system. Mr Siddiqi is head of the Hijaz College Islamic University in Nuneaton- home of the Muslim Arbitration Tribunal (MAT).

The tribunal, formed last year, offers ways for the Muslim community to resolve disputes in accordance with the sacred laws.

Mr Siddiqi said it was not the same as unofficial sharia courts reported to be operation across the country.

He said the system, part of the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) introduced in reforms of the civil justice system, dealt with commercial, civil, and matrimonial matters and some instances of domestic violence and neighbourly disputes.

He said common misconceptions of brutal punishments were not used and they also helped victims of forced marriages.

He said: "It's exactly this kind of input from sharia law that we can expect to enrich our society through the Alternative Dispute Resolution mechanism.

"We are trying to supplement English law by helping the British citizen not to be forced into or coerced into marriage."

Mr Siddiqi, himself a commercial law barrister, said the tribunal is the only ADR in existence at the moment, but others could easily form to resolve disputes in certain areas of the community.

He said: "Even the Hell's Angels could set up an ADR forum in which two can submit to the tribunal for resolution to their dispute based on the Yamaha manual.

Video:Islamic Hammer Attack, Philly Subway

A man yelling Allah has been caught on video wielding a hammer on a sleeping passenger. This just weeks after a nurse in Minneapolis was attacked by Muslims saying that they did not like white Americans. Attacks of this nature will take place more frequently as time goes on, as Muslims feel that Allah's Islamic law is held higher then our man made laws. What will it take to get our politicians to face this harsh reality?

PHILADELPHIA - September 8, 2008 - (WPVI) -- Police are asking the public for help captured a hammer-wielding attacker, who seemed to assault his prey for no apparent reason.
On Monday night, police released the video of the attack, in the hopes that someone can identify the man.

The attack happened back on Thursday at 12:15 a.m. on board the SEPTA northbound Broad Street line.

The victim, 20-year-old Dewayne Taylor is seen dozing in his seat, listening to his ipod.
In the doorway, the assailant is standing with a young boy, about three to five years old.
He tells the child to sit down.
Then, he pulls out a large hammer out of a black and yellow book bag, and proceeds to pummel the victim.
After striking Taylor a number of times, the attacker grabs Taylor by the shoes and pulls him down to the floor, where the attack continues.
Then, the man throws Taylor off the train, where they struggle some more before the attacker disappears out of sight.
"According to the victim, the male continued to assault him and tried to throw him into the track area," said Det. Kenneth Roach of the Philadelphia Police Dept.
Taylor told Action News last week that all throughout the attack, the man kept chanting something, and he distinctly recalled the word "Allah."
Police were stunned that some 20 passengers on board the train scattered, and did nothing to stop the attack.
"I think somebody should have helped that guy," said Det. Roach. "I understand the guy had a hammer, but they outnumbered him by at least 10 to one."
Monday night, Taylor's mother says she's not sure she wants to watch the horrific video of the attack on her son.
"You know, I just hope they catch him because my son didn't deserve it, and I'm not just speaking out for my son," said Tracie Taylor. "I'm speaking for all the victims and for the public, we need protection out there, and my son is fearful to return to work because he has to ride SEPTA."

"Modern" Yemen Gets new Police Division

No, they didn't get a brand spanking new SWAT division with high tech GPS and communication systems. They have instead allowed a Saudi style religious police division to form, all with the backing of 2000 clerics and tribal leaders. Look for the Islamic police to soon hit a town near you. As they are already in the U.K. and Sweden.

The Egyptian crooner Ehab Tawfiq has bedroom eyes, smouldering good looks and a voice that enchants Arab audiences. Sadly he won't be perfoming any time soon in Yemen, where he has been blocked by a controversial new Saudi-style "religious police" charged with enforcing austere standards of public morality.

Tawfiq sings catchily about love and relationships. But a concert he was due to give in Sana'a was postponed and then cancelled last month after a campaign by the country's newly-formed "virtue committee", which distributed posters and leaflets — and, say some, encouraged death threats and intimidation — condemning the handsome Egyptian for promoting "sedition, immorality and nudity".

For many Yemenis, and for women in particular, this was another alarming sign of the growth of Salafi extremism — an unwelcome import from neighbouring Saudi Arabia where the "mutaween" religious police are part of the scenery.

"These people scare the hell out of me," complained Nadia al-Sakkaf, the editor of the Yemen Times. "Yemeni youth are frustrated and depressed. There's nothing for them to do. And since when did we need to act against pop singers?"

The first signs appeared a few months ago in the Red Sea port of Hodeida, where young men and women began to be accosted by bearded vigilantes demanding proof that couples were related. A hotel disco and bar were closed down and several Arab women dancers deported. Daoud al-Jeni, a self-styled "virtue activist', described his mission as being to curb "obscenity and prostitution". Anti-vice teams, some armed with sticks, have also been operating in Aden, the former British colony in the south.

In mid-July the Authority for Promoting Virtue and Combating Vice — exactly the same name as used in Saudi Arabia for 80 years — was launched in Sana'a and quickly moved to pressure the authorities to raid and close down two Chinese restaurants that were allegedly being used for "immoral" purposes, including selling alcohol.

"This is a step backward for human rights in Yemen," warned Hurriya Mashour, the deputy head of the state-backed Womens National Committee.

Behind the "virtue committee", which supported by 2,000 clerics and tribal leaders, is Sheikh Abdel-Majid al-Zindani, (pictured above) a powerful Salafi figure who once taught Osama bin Laden and is accused by the US and UN of financing terrorism. Zindani is a charismatic preacher who claims to have found a cure for Aids and specialises in Quranic explanations for modern scientific discoveries. His Al-Iman university in Sana'a is seen as a hotbed of religious extremism.

Zindani and like-minded ulema, or scholars, have long demanded government action against "moral corruption", which in their book includes mixed dancing, alcohol, racy TV soap operas, fashion shows and even mannequins in shop windows. They have also opposed calls for a legally enforceable minimum age for marriage in a country where girls as young as 12, especially in villages, are frequently married off to older men.

The same group also condemned a proposal by President Ali Abdullah Salih for a 15% quota for women in parliament.

The government insists that it opposes the virtue committee. "The role of these people is only to guide, not to implement," Judge Hamoud al-Hittar, the minister for religious affairs, told the Guardian. "They won't close down any place or arrest or fine anyone. Their role is only to communicate to the competent authorities."

Still, there are strong suspicions, typical of the labyrinthine world of Yemeni politics, that Salih himself is quietly encouraging the idea — a devious way of appeasing Islamist opinion and splitting the opposition Islah party in the run-up to next year's parliamentary elections.

"The deal is that Zindani gets to push on with this for a while so Salih can look as if he's being sympathetic to his Islamist base," said a western diplomat. "Eventually, the government will have to move to reassert its role, but by then the committee will already have been set up and have carved out at least an unofficial role in policing so-called moral crimes."

Aid organisations working in the poorest country in the Arab world are also worried by the virtue committee, and especially about the setback it represents to the cause of empowering women, who are already battling 70% illiteracy and one of the biggest gender gaps on earth. "This is a country with so many serious problems and it has a terrible image," said one foreign development expert. "They are going to shoot themselves in the foot on this. This is not entirely different from how the Taliban started out and it would be a huge tragedy for the women of Yemen if they get caught in the political crossfire."

Ironically, the virtue committee idea appears to be taking off in Yemen just as the Saudis, angered by some high-profile excesses, try to loosen the stranglehold of their own mutaween, who police the ban on women drivers, on women travelling without a chaperone and whose latest activity is to enforce a prohibition on selling dogs and cats for domestic pets.

Yemen is a highly traditional Muslim country where most men wear tribal robes and carry curved jambiya daggers in their belts. But it has never been comfortable with the brand of dour Salafi/Wahabi fundamentalism promoted by the Saudi religious establishment. "If these vigilantes start approaching couples and asking them for their marriage certificates in Sana'a you will soon see jambiyas flying," warned a middle-class resident of the capital.

Arwa Othman, an author and folklorist who is defiantly bareheaded in a land where most women wear the hijab, is horrified by the virtue campaign and the zealots behind it. "This idea will kill this country," she says. "They've been talking about it for a long time in schools and mosques and in the army. Now they're in alliance with the government. These people appear when there is poverty and hunger and dictatorship. These are the right circumstances for extremists."

Anti-Islam Congress up Coming in Germany

The good news has just been rolling in for the past two days. Just yesterday I reported that Israel is going to host a 30 nation anti-jihad conference, and now today we see that another conference is going to be held in Colonge Germany for three days, September 19-21.
In the mean time the terrorist supporting state of Iran is complaining and looking to put an end to the conference and our freedom of speech. Just a typical move out of the Islamic playbook.


Tehran demands EU halt anti-Islam congress planned in Germany

Tehran/Berlin - The Iranian Foreign Ministry called in the French charge d'affaires in Tehran Wednesday to demand that the European Union (EU) prevent the holding of an "anti-Islam congress" planned for the German city of Cologne later this month.

The Foreign Ministry voiced concern about what it called the "growing anti-Islam trend" in Europe, appealing to the current French presidency of the EU to act, the official news agency IRNA reported.

IRNA reported that the French diplomat had condemned all forms of racism, pledging that the Iranian request would be followed up and Tehran would be kept informed about the congress.

The congress has been called by the right-wing, Cologne-based, activist group Pro-Cologne, which last month failed in its attempts to halt the building of a large mosque in the western German city.

Pro-Cologne has called a three-day anti-Islam congress for September 19-21, drawing support from the right-wing Freedom Party of Austria (FPOe) and the Belgian-Flemish right-wing Vlaams Belang Party, as well as prominent French right-winger Jean-Marie Le Pen, founder of the Front National (FN).

"The time has come to draw the line: Europe and Germany say 'no' to Islamification and immigrant invasion," the organization proclaims in German, French, Italian and English in advertising the congress on its website.

The congress, which culminates in a mass rally on Cologne's Haymarket square on September 20, is aimed at promoting "Western values and Christian traditions." Le Pen is expected to speak.

Pro-Cologne uses as its logo a mosque with a red line drawn through it in the shape of a traffic sign.

Left-wing groups have called counter-demonstrations to coincide with the rally.

The Interior Ministry of the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia, within which Cologne falls, said it had looked into banning the congress, but had come to the conclusion that there were insufficient grounds to do so.

The German constitution gave strong protection to freedom of assembly, Interior Ministry spokeswoman Carola Holzberg said.

Holzberg said pro-Köln had informed police they were expecting around 1,000 supporters to attend the September 20 rally.

Police are expecting up to 40,000 to protest against the congress.

On August 28, the Cologne City Council gave the go-ahead for a controversial mosque with a dome 37 metres high and two minarets rising to 55 metres to be built in the suburb of Ehrenfeld.

Israel to Host Anti-Jihad Convention

Finally we are seeing some unity in the battle with Islam. Which is a battle to protect life as we know it, for our future generations. Israel, unlike our politicians is not afraid to tell the world the truth. It is a worldwide jihad. Whether Muslims use politics or violence to take over, it does not matter. Either way we lose. The battle is on.

(IsraelNN.com) Knesset Member Arieh Eldad (National Union-National Religious Party) announced Wednesday that he will be hosting a convention in Jerusalem under the banner, "Standing Up to Jihad."

The right-wing MK told reporters Wednesday morning that the anti-jihad conference will be held in December and will be attended by some 30 European lawmakers from Denmark, Italy, Holland, Belgium, Sweden, Switzerland and Britain.

"There are 60 million Muslim immigrants in Europe, and they have not necessarily come there to be assimilated into society, but rather to resist it from the inside. The feeling in Europe is that the time has come to stop jihadist Islam, and this may be the last opportunity," he explained.

Norway:Debate About Segregated Swimming Classes

Hopefully this debate will put an end to the gender segregated gym and swim classes there, that were put into place to appease Muslims. Because if this type of catering does not end, eventually Muslims will be asking for all classes to be gender segregated. When they are done restructuring the schools their next target will be to stop allowing men and women being together in public, unless they are family. The people who are constantly catering to Muslims, need to think past the day they are in and think long term here.


Oslo: Debate about segregated swimming classes

Among the various opinions in this article not one considers that maybe Muslim parents might also want their kids to get a 'normal' Norwegian education.



Out of consideration of Muslim students, boys and girls at the Møllergata school in Oslo have segregated gym and swimming classes, and the swimming teachers must be of the 'right' gender.

Eva Kjøge, the school's principal, told Norwegian news agency NTB, that due to the immigration to the city there were problems with Muslim girls who weren't permitted to take physical education or swimming classes together with boys. The school had to therefore find arrangements.

She herself is newly employed at the school and hasn't yet taken a position on whether the years-long practice will continue. She says that the arrangement was started more than ten years ago. She started working at the school in August and wants to see how it functions before eventually making changes. This is an issue that is also important to discuss with the parents.

Kjøge points out however that the requirement to adapt education is a superior principle in Norwegian schools and that the division of sexes only applies to a few classes.

The education department in Oslo doesn't know the extent of sexual segregation in elementary schools. Astrid Søgnen, the education director in Oslo, says that such things don't happen to a high extent and that this conflicts with the education law. Though she also points to the student's right to adapt education.

She says that she has problems that the Møllergata school is doing such a offence. The arrangement was worked out together with the parents and is a result of a long tradition. The school thinks the solution works good, and that it's most important that the students learn to swim.

Does she understand parents who might react to preventing their children from having mixed education in gym and swimming out of religious consideration that only a minority require?

She does and she guarantees that the school will make an effort to find an alternative solution, if there will be such a requirement from the parents.

She points out that 38% of the students in Oslo's elementary schools have a multicultural background and says that the problems connected to sex and physical education are solved differently in different schools.

State Secretary Lisbet Rugtvedt of the Socialist Left Party (SV) says that swimming is one of the exceptions where students can be segregated by sex, out of respect for the minority and the right of religious expression.

Anders Anundsen of the Progress Party disagrees, despite that the party principally supports segregation by sex for pedagogical reasons. Anundsen says that a school class shouldn't be segregated due to religious convictions. It conflicts with how they see schools in Norway. Besides offering swimming education, the students are schooled in social abilities. He doesn't like it, he says.

The Equality and Anti-Discrimination Ombud is skeptical about the division of classes by gender. Bjørg Unstad says that gender is normally far too coarse a category by which to divide people. The starting point must be equal education, but if it's based on pedagogical considerations, gender segregation might be appropriate. She stresses that it's important that everybody is offered good swimming education and points to the many drowning accidents in Oslo this summer.

But there are several conceivable ways to this, she says. Swimsuits that completely cover the body can be a solution. According to Unstad it's important to also listen to the students who are not religious. It's unfortunate if segregation of the sexes causes a disproportionally large burden for the rest of the students.

Loveleen Rihel Brenna of the Parent's committee for elementary schools says that problem isn't unknown. They have gotten several reports from schools who segregate by sex out of consideration for the girls. Their experience is that boys take up a lot of room in classes such as physical education and swimming and that this makes it hard for the girls to develop themselves.

Brenna thinks the law is open for segregation in a few classes, but assumes that it happens through close cooperation with the parents. At the same time, she understands that the education law gives room for different interpretations, and that maybe the law or the regulations should be made clearer.

Freedom of Religion~Islam Style
