Afghans Protest Rumored Desecration of Koran by U.S. Troops

Is this part of the Afghans actually respecting us over their religion? As I have been saying, the infidel does not get to dictate to Muslims what Islam is. General McChrystal had recently stated that the Afghans will tell us when we win the war. Is this a sign of that? Our troops do not deserve the so called leaders that they are forced to serve under. Reporting from Kabul, Afghanistan - Hundreds of angry protesters in Afghanistan's capital burned an effigy of President Obamaon Sunday, acting on rumors that American troops had desecrated the Koran.

U.S. military officials emphatically denied that any copies of the Muslim holy book had been mishandled, and accused the Taliban of spreading falsehoods to incite hatred against Western forces.

But the protest -- reminiscent of similar demonstrations in Iraq and elsewhere in the Muslim world in recent years -- showed how easily passions involving religious sensitivities can be stirred up even with a dearth of evidence.

The incident also pointed to a strong undercurrent of anti-American sentiment at a politically fraught time in Afghanistan, less than two weeks before a runoff to settle a divisive, fraud-tainted presidential election. The Nov. 7 face-off between President Hamid Karzai and former Foreign Minister Abdullah Abdullah was agreed to only after heavy U.S. pressure on Karzai to accept the results of an international audit. The investigators found as many as one-third of the ballots cast for Karzai in the Aug. 20 election had been fraudulent. That put the Afghan leader below the threshold of victory, 50%, which made a runoff necessary.

On Sunday morning U.S. news interview shows, both candidates ruled out a power-sharing agreement to avoid the runoff. Against this political backdrop, the Koran protest reflected a rising religious conservatism even among some members of Afghanistan's educated elite, such as the university students who made up most of the crowd of about 1,000 demonstrators.

Police fired warning shots into the air when the demonstrators marched from Kabul University toward the parliament, but no injuries were reported.

Several marchers insisted they were certain that a Koran had been desecrated by U.S. troops in Wardak province, just outside the capital, even if they could not provide particulars of the incident, such as when it was believed to have taken place.

"Muslims were disrespected!" said Zabiullah Khalil, an engineering student. "The foreigners shot the Koran, and then they burned it. They should be tried for this."

The demonstration, like many in the capital, had a heartfelt yet orchestrated feel to it. Khalil, like a number of other participants, expressed broad anger at the United States in connection with the election and its disputed aftermath.

"We don't want a slave government," he said. "We want a real Islamic country."

Thank you very much for your question, which is meaningful and important, although it looks simple.

Muslims believe that the noble Quran is the final word of God revealed to humankind to guide its ways, and show people how to get close to their Creator by fulfilling what He has ordained on them, and how to fulfill their mission on earth by taking care of their responsibilities towards others.

It is the beacon to guide humanity to the path of its Creator, and show them the way to save themselves in the turmoil of this life, and enjoy the pleasure of Allah in this life as well as in the hereafter.

According to Islam, one of the unique characteristics of the Quran is that it is the book of all times and space. This means that the rulings and the teachings of the Quran are not restricted by time and space. They are universal and trans-time. They can be applied today as they were applied 1400 years ago, and can still be applied till the end of time.

Regardless of the change of our methods, knowledge, and approaches, this does not affect the validity of the teachings of the Quran. The Quran speaks of itself; and we are told that it is also a comprehensive book. Allah the Almighty says in the Quran what means:

[We have not neglected anything in the Book.] (Al-An`am 6:38)

The comprehensiveness of the Quran is necessary to enable people to function in their lives according to its guidance, and apply its teachings in their lives. The Quran tells us that it was revealed to be followed and applied with the intention of achieving guidance and leading a proper, God-pleasing life. In order for this purpose to be fulfilled, the Quran has to be comprehensive and all-embracing.

Islam 101: The Religion of War

Those that follow the subject of Islam constantly come across Muslims and Islamic apologists who will say anything to cover for Islam. Some of the most common are: that Islam is a religion of peace and another is the "defensive war" con.

Muslims and their apologists continually tell us that Muslims can only wage war in a defensive response, if they were attacked first. It is true that the Koran calls for Muslims to defend themselves, which is understandable. But there is much more to jihad than these defensive verses.

Defensive jihad:

Muslims only tell us about the defensive jihad in attempt to get us to believe that most of the attacks perpetrated by Muslims on non-Muslims across the world do not fall in line with Islam. Therefore Islam cannot be blamed. Muslims know that if we cannot even name our enemy, then we will never achieve victory.

What Muslims do not want us to know is that there are several other reasons that they can wage war and terrorize non-Muslims. The first being that they can terrorize anyone who contends with Islam in anyway. Contend can mean something as simple as opposing or even debating.

Lastly Muslims and their excuse makers will tell us that the Koran was written for that time period only. This is absolutely not true. The Koran specifically states that Mohammad's actions should be followed by all Muslims until judgement day.

The bottle line is that the defensive jihad is not the only reason that Muslims can wage war. Islam is a religion of war and this war is forever, whether it is being waged violently or politically. CAIR:Obama has Inspired us to Distribute 100,000 Korans

The pro-Islamic speech that President Obama recently gave in Cairo has inspired the terrorist supporting organization, the Council on America Islamic Relations (CAIR) to increase their proselytization efforts. Right in the middle of this movement is CAIR Chairman, State Sen. Larry Shaw (NC).

Greece:After Rioting, Muslims Play Victim Card

After days of rioting in Greece over a rumor of a Koran being desecrated Muslim leaders there do what Muslims do the best. They played the victim card and said that they are marginalized. The bottom line is that if Muslims are not allowed to dominate a country they will complain that they are marginalized or oppressed. My advice is for non-Muslims to live life as they know it, let them whine.

ATHENS - RELIGIOUS elders in Athens fear that the city's long-marginalised Muslims are a 'timebomb' waiting to explode after a sudden eruption of violence offered a glimpse at their sense of anger and frustration.

Two days of clashes late last week, which broke out during a rally by around 1,000 Muslims in the Greek capital, followed claims that a police officer had torn up an Iraqi migrant's pocket Koran excerpt during an identity check.

More than a dozen people were injured, scores of cars vandalised and a handful of shops had their windows smashed. Police made 46 arrests.

Although the lid was soon placed on the violence, Muslim leaders who condemned the unrest also warned the state must act quickly to reverse the sense of marginalisation.

Thousands of Muslims from Arab nations, Africa and the Indian subcontinent now live and work in Athens, often scraping by with meagre wages and in squalid accommodation.

A long-standing grievance is that despite years of promises the Greek state has provided no official prayer sites, forcing the faithful to set up makeshift mosques in rented flats and disused warehouses.

Naim El Gadour, chairman of the Muslim Union of Greece says there are over 100 unlicensed prayer sites in Athens and hundreds of thousands of Muslims, not counting Albanians and illegal migrants.

A staunchly Orthodox state with bitter memories of four centuries of Ottoman Turkish rule, Greece currently offers sanctioned Muslim religious sites only near its northeastern border with Turkey where a Muslim minority of Turkish origin lives.

All traces of Islam were eradicated in Athens in the early 19th century when Christianity was restored, and bureaucratic wrangling and opposition from church leaders and mayors have stalled plans for a mosque and cemetery.

'We see no mosque, we see no cemetery, basically they are making fools of us,' says Abu Mahmoud, a Moroccan who has lived in Greece since 1985. 'The situation in Athens is getting worse because of the economic crisis which is hitting foreigners the hardest, and the city centre has become a jungle as a result.' -- AFP

Iran Proves Me Right About Koran Verse 5:32~Video

Over the years many of us have debated Muslims and their leftist supporters on the subject of whether or not Islam is a peaceful religion. Muslims and their excuse makers usually try the popular, Islam only calls for violence in a "defensive war". One of my responses to them was that Koran verse 5:32 proves that Islam is a violent religion. As it calls for the death of anyone who spreads "mischief" in the land, and "mischief" can be anything that they say it is. Here is 5:32 as translated by Islamic scholar Yusuf Ali.

UK:Libraries to Move Korans to the top Shelf

Once again we have Muslims in the UK pushing to show us how their religion and the Koran are above everything else. In the past we had a store cashier who was a Muslim refuse to touch a book of Bible stories because the book was "unclean". In Birmingham last June, a Muslim police community support officer stopped two Christian preachers from handing out Bible extracts. They were told that any attempt to convert a Muslim to Christianity would be considered a hate crime. Now one city in the UK has ordered its libraries to make sure that the Koran is placed on the top shelf. The reason being? We all know the answer to that.

Muslims have complained that the Koran is often displayed on the lower shelves, which is deemed offensive as many believe the holy book should be placed above "commonplace things".

Now library officials in one city have been told to keep all holy books, including the Bible, on the top shelves in the interests of equality.

It has caused concern from Christian charities that this will put the Bible out of the reach and sight of many people.

The situation was brought to light in guidance published by the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council, a quango answering to Culture Secretary Andy Burnham, on how to handle controversial materials.

It said some Muslims in Leicester had moved copies of the Koran to the top shelves of libraries, because they believe it is an insult to display it in a low position.

The city's librarians consulted the Federation of Muslim Organisations and were advised that all religious texts should be kept on the top shelf to ensure equality.

A short case study on the situation has been written into the appendix of the guidance, available on the MLA website.

It states: “Some libraries in Leicester have received complaints about the Koran not being placed on the top shelves in libraries. Some customers go along the shelves and place the Koran so it is shelved higher than other books.

“This action arises from the practice in many Muslim homes of the Koran being placed on a high shelf above commonplace things, as it is the word of God.

“The authority consulted the Federation of Muslim Organisations in Leicester about this matter, and they advised that all religious texts should be kept on a top shelf together.

“This meant that no offence is caused, as the scriptures of all the major faiths are given respect in this way, but none is higher than any other.”

Some critics have expressed concern that the books will now just be treated as objects to revere rather than books to read.

Robert Whelan of the Civitas think-tank told The Daily Mail: "Libraries and museums are not places of worship. They should not be run in accordance with particular religious beliefs.

"This is violating the principles of librarianship and it is part of an insidious trend.

"One of the central planks of the Protestant Reformation was that everybody should have access to the Bible."

Simon Calvert of the Christian Institute said: "It is disappointing if the policy of libraries is dictated by the practices of one group.

"It is particularly disappointing if this is done to put the scriptures beyond reach.

"I hope there will be a rethink. I understand that Muslims revere their own text, but in public libraries there should not be a policy of putting religious texts out of reach."

Inayat Bunglawala, of the Engage think tank, which encourages Muslims to play a greater role in public life, said that there should not be a "one size fits all" rule.

He said: "If Muslims wish to see the Koran placed on a higher shelf, and library rules say it should be there, then that is a welcome and considerate gesture.

"But one size does not fit all. If Christians do not want to see the Bible treated in the same way, I do not see why it has to be dealt with the same."

An MLA spokesman said there were no rules to say other libraries must follow suit with Leicester.

He said: “Different libraries can legitimately treat religious texts in different ways – there is not a one size fits all solution and no group has asked for there to be one. The key is to show understanding, respect and equality to all local library users.”
