Labour Routed in European Elections

Following the pattern of Geert Wilders' party finishing a very strong second, and the exit polls showing conservative parties being the favorites in many major European countries, the gutless Labour Party has gotten crushed. The UK is finally waking up.

Gordon Brown's political survival is in the balance after Labour suffered a devastating defeat in the European elections.

The party was beaten into third place by the UK Independence Party (Ukip) in the popular vote while the far-right British National Party (BNP) achieved a major breakthrough by gaining its first European seats.

The defeat could be the catalyst for rebel Labour backbenchers plotting to oust Prime Minister Gordon Brown to come out into the open and launch a direct leadership challenge.

Labour managed just 15.4 per cent of the popular vote to Ukip's 17.5 per cent. The Tories had 28.3 per cent while the Liberal Democrats were in fourth with 14 per cent.

Despite victories in the North West and Yorkshire, the BNP had a lower share of the vote than the Greens, with 6.6 per cent to their 8.8 per cent.

Labour lost five seats to leave them with just 11, two fewer than Ukip with 13 and 13 behind the Conservative tally of 24.

Deputy leader Harriet Harman admitted the results were "very dismal", saying: "Our supporters are absolutely furious with us about expenses. They expect us to have higher standards than the Tories."

The results will set the scene for a tense meeting of the Parliamentary Labour Party, where the Prime Minister is expected to address his shell-shocked backbenchers later.

There will be particular dismay that the party has fallen so far that it opened the door for the BNP to take seats in Yorkshire and the Humber and in the North West, where the party's leader Nick Griffin was elected.

Health Secretary Andy Burnham said: "It is a sad moment in British politics. The BNP is like the ultimate protest vote. It is how to deliver the establishment a two-fingered salute. I think largely it is a comment on Westminster politics."

Mr Griffin said: "The party is going to go on and grow very rapidly. We're going to be major contenders in a number of places in the next general election and the next wave of council elections."

Ukip leader Nigel Farage said: "This time we have come second in a major national election. That is a hell of an achievement especially given that over the last three or four weeks we have not really had a proper debate about the European question."

UK:Labour:Parliament is “Too White and Too Male” to be Sensible

The UK's ruling Labour Party which is destroying the UK with endless handouts, mass immigration and constant catering to Islam has come out said that their country's government is "too white and too male to have any sensible debates. One example that they cited was the veil worn by Islamic women. Couldn't they research this issue without having Muslims in their Parliament? In liberal terms all this means is that they want to cater to Islam even more. Labour never learns.

The British parliament is too white and male to have “sensible” debates on a string of issues, Commons Leader Harriet Harman has said.
The Cabinet minister warned that the Commons would have “no legitimacy” if it is seen as a “narrow and self-serving elite.”
She spoke as MPs approved the creation of a cross-party Speaker’s Conference, the first for more than two decades, to look at ways to boost the number of women and ethnic minorities being elected.
Harman also wants it to examine issues such as the sexuality of MPs. She said: “We cannot sensibly discuss the veil (in the Commons) when there is no Muslim woman MP; it was impossible to discuss domestic violence when there are 97 percent men in the Commons.”
Commons Speaker Michael Martin will pick up to 17 MPs to take part in the conference, which is expected to present recommendations next year.

UK:Labour Party Plans to Change Islam in 30 Years

The foolishness of the Labour Party never ends. (No offense to my British friends intended, as Obama will be just as bad.) The ruling Labour Party intends to talk Muslims out of what they call "radicalism", which is really just Islam. They are even willing to discuss changing the UK's foreign policy with the Muslims of the UK. I guess Labour is too blind to see that Muslims will use this dialogue against them and what makes them even begin to think that the Muslims of the UK will listen to non-Muslims over their Imam leaders? My message to the Labour Party is, either end Muslim immigration or Islam will end the UK within the next 30 years.


'30-year wait to tame young extremists'

Ending the radicalisation of young Muslims in Britain could take 30 years, the Security Minister warned today.

Lord West of Spithead said authorities had opened up a dialogue with the Muslim community but he stressed there were no quick solutions to the problem of extremism in the UK.

"This isn't going to change just like that," he told the Commons Defence Committee.


"To stop this radicalisation of extremists is going to take about 30 years I would think," he added.

"But it will become a virtuous circle. It will start getting better and better."

Lord West, a former head of the Royal Navy, said radicalisation could not be dealt with through security policies alone.

"We cannot arrest and protect ourselves out of this problem," he said.

He acknowledged the Government's foreign policy was an issue for many Muslims, but insisted efforts to promote a dialogue were producing results.

"We would accept that certain aspects of our foreign policy have caused difficulties with them but now at least we are engaging in a debate with them," he said.

"I have found that when you talk to them the first discussion with a group is pretty hardcore stuff for you, but actually the second and third time they are beginning to understand, once you explain why you are doing things."
