RALEIGH, N.C.. | Federal authorities said Tuesday the accused ringleader of a group of North Carolina terrorism suspects talked about loving jihad, fighting for Allah and loathing a U.S. military presence at Muslim holy sites.

During a hearing on whether the seven men will be held until trial, officials played recordings of Daniel Boyd talking to his family and to a witness about what authorities called plans to carry out attacks overseas.

"I love jihad. I love to stand there and fight for the sake of Allah," a voice identified as Mr. Boyd's said on a recording made in June at Mr. Boyd's home. "Muslims must be protected at all costs."

FBI Special Agent Michael Sutton said Mr. Boyd wanted the men, including two of his sons, to engage in violent jihad, train on firearms and travel overseas. Mr. Sutton said Mr. Boyd repeatedly spoke of armor-piercing ammunition and a year ago told a witness about his dislike of the U.S. military being in some Middle Eastern lands.

"They're over there killing our brothers," Mr. Sutton quoted Mr. Boyd as saying.

The seven men were arrested and charged last week with plotting attacks in a foreign country. An eighth is being sought. Officials have not named their purported targets.

The indictment named Mr. Boyd, 39, as the suspected ringleader, saying he bought guns, and Mr. Boyd's two sons - 20-year-old Zakariya and 22-year-old Dylan. It said some of the men took trips over the past three years to Jordan, Kosovo, Pakistan and Israel "to engage in violent jihad."

Supporters and members of the suspects' families packed the courtroom Tuesday. The handcuffed men nodded and waved to the crowd.

People who couldn't get seats waited outside. Some said they thought the men were innocent or being unfairly targeted.

"Maybe there's some bad Muslims in there, but just because you have a head scarf and faith in your heart doesn't mean we're aliens," said Shagufta Syad, 37, one of Mr. Boyd's supporters. "I just want justice to be served. I'm here concerned as a Muslim, as an American, I need to know what's going on."

Mr. Boyd's wife has said her husband and two sons were not involved in any terrorist activity, and neighbors and friends were shocked last week to learn of the accusations.

Mr. Sutton, the FBI agent, said Mr. Boyd told authorities that during his time in Pakistan and Afghanistan two decades ago he battled Russians for 23 days when Soviet troops attacked a training camp he was attending.

Mr. Sutton said some of the men recently had scheduled trips, and that Zakariya Boyd said at some point that he planned to travel to the Bosnia area in search of a place for the family to relocate.

"I think that all of them are a risk to flight," Mr. Sutton said.

An attorney for one of the suspects, Hysen Sherifi, said his client planned to travel to Kosovo because that's where his wife lives.

Federal officials said they seized from Mr. Boyd's home and cars more than 27,400 rounds of ammunition, 26 weapons, gas masks and a handbook on how authorities respond to acts of terrorism. Mr. Sutton said there was a trench dug under Mr. Boyd's deck that a witness described as a place to hide weapons.

Authorities are still looking for the eighth suspect, 20-year-old Jude Kenan Mohammad of Raleigh.

NC Islamic Center was Warned About Terror Suspects!

Earlier this year NY politician Peter King stated that there was a lack of effort when it came to US Muslims and them cooperating with the authorities. Well it appears that case might just be a perfect example of this. In a past article Mosque leaders made these comments.

"A spokesman at the Islamic Center in Raleigh said he did not know the suspects...."

A leader from a Durham Mosque stated.

"In our dealings, we found them to be people of good moral character," said Hisham Heda, board chairman at the Durham mosque

But now a brave US Muslim has come out and said that he had personally warned the Mosque about the terror suspects and the Mosque leaders just swept it under the rug.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Humza Ismail, who lived in Raleigh for a brief period of time, claimed during a recent interview with CNN that he warned the Islamic Center of Raleigh about two Triangle men facing terrorism charges.

During the interview, Ismail said he worshiped at the same mosque as the suspects, Mohammad Omar Aly Hassan, 22, and Ziyad Yaghi, 21. In group discussions, the men talked about suicide bombing, Ismail said.

"When it came to something like suicide bombing, they would say, 'If it's a benefit for the Muslims, then something like that can be permissible,'" Ismail told CNN.

"I could tell it was something they wanted to do,” he added. "They never indicated or said, 'We are going to make jihad overseas.'"

Hassan and Yaghi were among eight people with Triangle ties indicted on Monday on charges they plotted a series of terrorist attacks overseas and secured weapons and trained in North Carolina.

Ismail said he disagreed with views expressed by Hassan and Yaghi and raised concerns to officials at the Islamic Center of Raleigh. He said his concerns were overlooked by center officials.

“Those were his personal opinions,” Imran Aukhil, of the center at 3020 Ligon St., said Sunday in response to Ismail's claims.

Aukhil said he could not speak of any complaints against Hassan or Yaghi. However, he did confirm that several years ago the center filed a complaint against a person at the mosque with the FBI.

He said the center's officials believe that they have an obligation to report significant threats of violence.

"Rogue comments that are made by individuals are handled on a case-by-case basis. We handle every case, every violent crime or every threat as necessary,” Aukhil said.

NC:Chabad House Vandalized

During the night either Islamic cowards or their leftist supporters have vandalized a Chabad House in North Carolina. Apparently the police there have not turned on the news in the past two weeks, as they have stated that they do not suspect any anti-semitism, "just teenagers". N.C. is also the home of a new Mosque, where a Mosque leader believes that non-Muslims should pay jizya, a special tax to Muslims.

CHARLOTTE, NC [CHI] — Wednesday morning, the Shluchim to Charlotte, NC found their their Chabad House vandalized. Windows were shattered, objects were broken and tossed about. The Lubavitch Education Center of North Carolina, run by Rabbi Yossi and Mariashi Groner, had apparently been vandalized overnight. The situation doesn't seem to be serious, however the incident was reported to the Police, who don't suspect any anti-semitism, 'just teenagers'.
