OZ:Muslim Gang Actor Jailed for Violence

The Muslim actor who played a Lebanese gang leader in the movie The Combination was arrested on an assault charge, which was in retaliation for a previous street brawl. I guess that the movie could of been called a biography.

Crime actor jailed for violence
ONE of the stars of a new Australian movie about gang violence will be in jail when the film premieres next month.

Ali Haider, 19, who stars in The Combination, is facing a charge of assault occasioning actual harm.

He was refused bail in Sydney's Central Local Court on Friday, the movie's writer George Basha confirmed.

As Haider appeared via video link from Parklea prison, Basha was in court to offer his support, along with director David Field and producer John Pirrie.

Basha said the assault charge was in relation to a street brawl in Sydney's CBD late last year.
Haider has been in custody since mid-November.

Basha said Haider's lawyers had reviewed CCTV footage of the incident and were confident he would be released.

But that won't happen before his next scheduled court hearing on February 24.

The red carpet premiere for The Combination will be held on February 17 in Parramatta.

Basha said everyone involved in the film was very disappointed, but hoped Haider would be released before the film's February 26 release in cinemas around the country.

"I spent the whole day there thinking they were going to get him out. Our lawyer is disappointed too because he didn't think Ali did much,'' Basha said.

"I wanted him to be there at the red carpet to experience it, I'm very disappointed for him especially too. But it's pretty much out of our hands now.''

In The Combination, a film about gangs and racism, Haider plays a violent young Lebanese man.

His character Zeus is involved in armed hold-ups, drugs and shootings.

In one scene, when told he could end up in jail, he responds in the film: "That doesn't scare me bros.''

OZ:Film Pulled Because of Brawls

A film about Lebanese gangs called The Combination being shown in Sydney Australia has been yanked because of brawls taking place at theatres. I am sure that these would not be Muslims who once again have a problem with free speech....

Local film pulled from cinemas after brawls

An Australian film about Lebanese gangs has been pulled from Greater Union cinemas in Sydney after violent outbursts at early screenings.

The Combination is the first Australian film release of the year and has been receiving rave reviews for its gritty portrayal of life in Sydney's west.

The distributor for the film was informed of the decision by Greater Union last night.

Allanah Zitserman from Australian Film Syndicate says Greater Union decided to stop screening the film after several brawls occurred at western Sydney cinemas after the movie was shown.

"I understand there has been some isolated incidents at the Parramatta Greater Union by a very small minority group that has forced Greater Union to make the unprecedented decision in the third day of its release to pull the film," she said.

Ms Zitserman says the film's cast and crew are devastated by the decision, but can understand why it has happened.

OZ:Islamic Schools not Helping With Assimilation

This is the second report this week telling us how Islamic schools in the West are keeping Muslims from assimilating. Although those that do not want to assimilate never will. The first report was from the UK and this one is from Australia. Another disturbing similarity between the two countries are the higher than usual unemployment rates in the Muslim communities. The result of this is that Islamic ghettos are forming across the West.

By Neville D'Cruz MELBOURNE, Feb 25 (Bernama) -- Islamic schools in Australia may be compounding the difficulties Muslim Australianface in getting jobs, the Sydney Daily Telegraph said, quoting Professor Riaz Hassan, from the Flinders University in Adelaide.

When families send their children to Islamic schools they may be excluding them from the usual job networks found between public school and other private school communities, the newspaper said.

Several Islamic schools in Australia have students from Malaysia.

As unemployment is twice the rate for 19 to 24-year-old Muslim Australians compared with non-Muslim Australians, this makes it less likely they will find a job, according to Professor Hassan.

And the more marginalised young Muslim Australians become, the professor argues, the more likely they are to be vulnerable to radical religious views or otherwise reject mainstream Australian aspirations.

Professor Hassan raised his concerns when the Daily Telegraph education writer Maralyn Parker recently interviewed him about a paper he presented at last year's National Centre of Excellence for Islamic Studies Australia conference on the 2006 census data.

When he crunched the numbers from the census he came up with some unexpected figures, Parker said.

Muslim Australians are more likely to be university educated than non-Muslim Australians. Twenty one per cent of Muslim Australians have degrees compared with 15 per cent of non-Muslim Australians -- a statistic that challenges the stereotypical view of Muslim Australians.

But the bad news is that higher achievement in education does not translate into jobs, Parker said.

In the 19 to 24-year-old bracket the unemployment rate of Muslim Australians is 18 per cent, compared with 9 per cent of non-Muslims.

And it just gets worse from there. The older Muslim Australians become the more likely they are to be unemployed than non-Muslims. By age 65 it is four times more likely.

In all other socio-economic comparisons, Muslim Australians fare badly. They are less likely to own their own homes and more likely to live in rented premises.

The most shocking statistic is that 40 per cent of Muslim Australian children live in poverty -- about twice the rate for non-Muslim Australian children, Parker said.

"This is a huge problem. When poverty and unemployment become endemic within a community it can lead to complete alienation from a society. We have seen the results of such alienation in riots in France and in Britain," the report says.

In the 2006 census there were 340,391 Muslims in Australia. About 38 per cent were born in Australia, followed by Lebanon (9 per cent), Turkey (7 per cent) and Afghanistan (5 per cent). Only 1.7 per cent of the overall Australian population is Muslim, but a staggering 40 per cent of Muslim Australians are under the age of 20, compared with about 27 per cent of the non-Muslim population.

Parker said the first two Islamic schools in Australia were established in 1983. Today there are 30 Islamic schools across the nation, 13 in NSW, with controversial plans to build more. Islamic schools had proliferated along with other faith-based schools under the Howard government's generous funding arrangements.

So far the Rudd Government has not tightened regulations about establishing new schools and has not indicated it has plans to do so.

However, Professor Hassan's concerns make it even more imperative for Muslim parents to consider carefully their choice of school, and for governments to examine future plans for new schools. -- BERNAMA

Oz:Islamic School Bans Australian National Anthem

An Islamic college in the land of Oz has banned the song Advance Australia Fair, which just happens to be the country's national anthem. It was was said to be anti-Islamic. A group of brave Australians came out in protest against the school, the Muslims called the protests un-Australian. Obviously freedom of speech and assimilating are also anti-Islamic.

A BRISBANE school that banned the national anthem at assemblies says it will review the policy and that it loves the values embodied in the song.

Australian International Islamic College teacher Pravin Chand was sacked in November, four months after his proposal for students to sing Advance Australia Fair was ruled to be against the "Islamic view and ethos".

A memo sent to teachers at the Durack school in July and obtained by The Courier-Mail, also said "the singing of the anthem will be put on hold".

But school trustee Keysar Trad said news the anthem was not played regularly at school assemblies came as a shock.

Mr Trad said the anthem was performed at every major school function but was removed from daily assemblies by the principal without the endorsement of the school board.

Trustees and the board would meet to discuss performing the anthem at every school assembly, he said.

"My personal recommendation is that it be performed at every assembly," he said.

Mr Trad said the students were proud to sing the anthem and were known locally for their performance of it.

"Personally, I love the content because it's full of these wonderful words which reflect values that we all share," he said.

The revelations follow an outcry on the Gold Coast this week at a plan by the same college to open another campus at Carrara. A vocal crowd draped in Australian flags accused the college of promoting segregation, anti-Australian values and even terrorism.
Muslim leaders slammed the protests as "un-Australian" and claimed religion should not be used as a reason to protest against a school.

But Mr Chand, whose version of events was backed by a second teacher, said he had not heard the anthem once this year.

"No national anthem to me means no integration with Australian kids," Mr Chand said. "Western values (at the school) are a no-no.

"It's like a paramilitary camp that place."

Mr Chand's employment was terminated by the college board last month on the grounds he was "not fitting into the school's ethos".

Outgoing principal Azroul Liza Khalid, who started at the school in July, said she had not heard the anthem once at assembly, although it was played two or three other times.

Ms Khalid said she was told by a board member not to play the anthem or any songs on Friday because it was a holy day. In July, school assembly day was moved from Monday to Friday.

A spokeswoman for Queensland Education Minister Rod Welford indicated it was unlikely a public school had banned the national anthem.

"It's not compulsory for schools to play the national anthem," she said. "There's an expectation it would be played on formal occasions when the Australian flag is being raised."

The future of the proposed 60-student college at Carrara will be decided by Gold Coast City Council next year.

US, Australia, and the UK:Islamic Leaders Calling for Sharia law

As time goes on more and more Islamic leaders are not hiding their agenda and are calling for Islamic law. Let us examine three cases of this. The first taking place
in the US. He is a Phoenix Imam who is calling for Muslims not to follow the laws of the US government, but instead follow those of Sharia or Islamic law . Here is what Omar Shahin, president of the North American Imams Foundation has said.

“A Muslim must try his best to abide by the rulings of Sharia [Islamic law] whenever possible as much as he can. He should not allow himself to be liable to those western laws that contradict the clear-cut Islamic rulings".

Islamic laws include stonings for adultery and the extortion of non-Muslims. (Koran verse 9 29) If you ask me, it sounds like those laws and ours cannot coexist within the same country.

The next case is coming from Australia where in the past Muslim students petitioned the universities there to change every ones class schedule times to accommodate the pray times of Muslims. A recently released report shows that some Islamic leaders in OZ are condoning rape within a marriage (Koran verse 2 223), domestic violence (Koran verse 4 34),



polygamy, (Koran verse 4 003), welfare fraud (not part of Islamic law) and the exploitation of women. (Koran verse 4 11).

The third case in is an Imam in the UK, who preaches at Britain's best known Mosque. Abu Zahra declared: “Male and female thief – amputate their hands. Those who kill – their life is not secure.” And he slammed unmarried sex, saying: “Lash them". In the UK Muslims who are calling for sharia are well on their way, as some aspects of sharia are being allowed in a string of UK Sharia Courts.

Isn't time that our governments start fighting back? There are a few things that should be happening here. The first is that sharia law should be made illegal, as US Congressman Tom Tancredo has stated. Secondly those that call for sharia should be charged with treason and finally we need to put an end to all Muslim immigration including student visas. As this problem will only get worse and worse as more of them come here.
